Pizza Fun!

Making your own pizza dough is easy and inexpensive. Below you will find a pizza dough recipe made with no equipment, but if you have a Kitchen-Aid with a dough. hook or a food processor, it is even easier.  I also highly recommend a pizza stone to get the crust nice and crispy. But in my recipe, I will show you how to do it by hand.

You can easily make the dough with all purpose flour, but if you can get Tipo 00 Italian flour, you will love it.

Ingredients

  • 3.5 cups All purpose flour or tipo 00 flour 00 is much finer
  • 1/4 cup Semolina flour For dusting pizza stone or cookie sheet
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 packet active dried yeast 1/4 oz
  • 1 1/4 cup Luke warm water

Instructions

  1. SIFT THE FLOUR AND SALT ONTO A CLEAN WORK SURFACE AND MAKE A WELL IN THE MIDDLE. Looks like a donut

  2. Mix the yeast, sugar and water together.... leave at least 5 minutes for the yeast to activate. Then add the olive oil. Pour the mixture in the well of your flour and start mixing it with a fork to bring the sides in. Keep mixing and drawing larger amounts of flour in. When it comes together add more flour for dusting and start kneading the dough until smooth and springy. Do a test and stick your thumb in and if dough springs back, it's ready

  3. Place dough ball in a bowl covered with a damp cloth in a warm room for about an hour... best near heat source. Ideal proofing temp is around 80 F

  4. When ready punch down the dough to let the air out. You can either place in fridge or freezer, to use at another date or start rolling and dividing dough out- should make about 3 medium pizzas.

  5. After rolling out the dough place on a hot semolina floured pizza stone or sheet tray and place your toppings. I placed my pizza in my mini Breville smart oven-on the pizza setting! YUM
