I love hosting parties and have gotten much better at it since my 2-years at culinary school. This is a party I catered for a friend, pre-culinary school and I realize now how I would make it even better. My friend really didn’t want anyone to starve! As you can see we had tons and tons of cheeses! I searched high and low for wonderful deals at Costco, Plum Market and Cantoro’s Italian Market. Now looking at the display I would have added more design details, but like I said, it was one of my first parties!
I have since discovered a great online gourmet site
It is especially nice to order cheeses online during this Covid19 crisis! I have ordered lots of spices from the gourmet website as well.
When planning a party, don’t go overboard unless you want left overs for weeks, but don’t get stingy either. Make sure you have a variety and play with design. I have found great inspiration from this instagramer-she has gorgeous displays that will certainly impress your guests!
In the above photo, I made little cucumber tea sandwiches, a crudite platter, a charcuterie platter, and had fresh figs stuffed with goat cheese with a drizzle of raw honey. It was truly delicious, but in hind sight, I would have designed the display differently. I did only have 1 hour to set it up, so that also played into the design.
Hi I’m Karine. This photo is me goofing off, trying to be the mid-century housewife in our kitchen in California. We now live in Detroit, Michigan –a big change and a bigger kitchen! But no matter where I live food and cooking remains my passion. I hope I can motivate you, give you ideas or share with each other food stories, cooking dreams and goals.
