I love Za’atar spice mix. My sister bought me an amazing blend from her travels in the Middle East. I use it sparingly.I have found some good blends online and at my local Middle Eastern grocery store, but nothing compares to the real thing. These are some kinds from amazon, I’ve not tested all of them, let me know if you find one you like! The recipe is easy and really to taste-meaning if you want it more lemon like, add more… lemon juice. Add some herbs- in this photo I used chervil, but parsley, dill or chives would be an excellent choice, as well.
I use Labne-style yogurt, but this can be done with greek yogurt or plain yogurt.
Add a bit of lemon juice, mix in about 1 tablepoon of Za’atar spice blend and then top your dip with olive oil and sprinkle more zataar.
This dip is great with bread, pita, crudité vegetables. It’s a quick and easy party food.
It’s also great as a little quick sauce to go on grilled salmon or chicken.
I hope you enjoy!
Hi I’m Karine. This photo is me goofing off, trying to be the mid-century housewife in our kitchen in California. We now live in Detroit, Michigan –a big change and a bigger kitchen! But no matter where I live food and cooking remains my passion. I hope I can motivate you, give you ideas or share with each other food stories, cooking dreams and goals.
